There are lots of things to do in and around Egmond other than the obvious visit to the beach. It is wonderful to walk or bicycle in the dunes. A nice bike ride takes you to Johanna’s Hof near the village of Bakkum www.johannashof.nl.

Bikes can be rented in the village and maps are available at the VVV, the tourist office.

The village of Bergen is a good destination for shopping or a meal in one of its many restaurants. In the market town of Alkmaar you will find the famous cheese market in the beautiful old town centre, as well as museums, a swimming pool etc.

A little further away in the village Broek op Langedijk is the Museum Broekerveiling www.broekerveiling.nl which is not just educational but also fun for young and old.

Alkmaar has excellent rail connections with both Amsterdam and Haarlem. Both cities are well worth a visit.
